HR ICP MS

Make: Nu Instruments

Model: Attom ES

The HR-ICP-MS (High Resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) is a magnetic sector double-focusing mass spectrometer. It is designed for ultra-trace elemental and isotope ratio analysis in complex matrices. Its advanced ion optics, adjustable resolution slit system, and novel wide dynamic range detector provide high sensitivity, exceptional precision, and the ability to separate closely spaced mass interferences.

Applications

The HR-ICP-MS is broadly applicable in

  • Environmental and water quality analysis
  • Geological and mineralogical studies
  • Heavy metals in Ayurvedic preparations
  • Trace metals in biogeochemical samples
  • Material science and industrial quality control

Required Samples :-

Sample Preparations:

The following things should be considered while submitting samples:

  • The filtered samples (0.22 micron syringe filter) should be in an aqueous, clear solution.
  • The carbon content (organic as well as inorganic) should be < 1%.
  • The samples should be acidified, please use 2% nitric acid (suprapure purity or comparable).
  • Use acid-cleaned and dry high-quality plastic vessels, e.g., PPE/HDPE bottles. Glass vessels should be avoided as it leads to falsified results due to bleeding of various cations from the glass.

Important Considerations

  • Sample Preparation: PGE analysis in complex matrices (like geological samples) often requires extensive sample preparation techniques, such as nickel sulfide (NiS) fire assay and tellurium coprecipitation, to separate the PGEs from interfering elements. These preparation steps are a major factor in the final cost.

Additional charges for Microwave Digestion (as mentioned in the charge details) are with suprapure acids trace metal grade reagents are applicable for samples which require pre-treatment before ICP-MS analysis.
